Berkshire Economic Commentary 2009 - October

Unemployment has fallen for the first time in over a year. Although this is good news it is important to be cautious.

Some positive news that doesn't require as much caution is the fact that large-scale redundancies are no longer common place, as they were only a few months ago.

These are early indicators that there is some economic recovery occurring. Official figures recently released show that the UK as a whole is still technically in a recession, however. Common sense, and many future trend analysts, predicts small amounts of growth over a long period of time. If true, Berkshire has suffered more than other areas of the country in this downturn, but historically has been one of the first areas to begin reaping the rewards of any upturn.
